While we recognize the benefits of many different educational philosophies, we are traditional in our education. We have teacher led classes, set learning time, and tables where students have to do their work. We do, however, recognize that sometimes 3-5 year olds need different activities. We keep our classes flexible to allow an antsy class more time to be active, and also a class that's especially focused to practice more learning. We keep educational toys like blocks, manipulatives, and even play doh readily accessible during our centers time for our students to be able to play and learn from playing.

The children in our program are able to practice a variety of learning in our classrooms. We emphasize age appropriate social and emotional learning throughout our program in addition to our educational curriculum. We utilize handwriting without tears curriculum to teach our students to learn handwriting and the letters of the alphabet. We pair movement with learning and often incorporate games into our learning. We follow Trueway Kids bible curriculum and teach the principles in our day to day activities. We also teach our students number sense for numbers 1-10 and teach them to count up to 50 in their time in our classroom. We practice pre-reading skills such as compound words, rhyming, alliteration, and many others throughout our school year. Finally, we emphasize and practice common colors, shapes, and cover the calendar daily.

Learning time, bible time, and morning meeting are 30 minutes each. We also have a 30 minute gymnastics class and a 30 minute music class our students attend. While they have these extensive learning hours, we also know that children 3-5 years old are hardly able to focus for that amount of time without movement, activity, and interest. We incorporate whole body learning, small groups, singing, and dancing into our everyday lessons to help our students actively participate in our learning.

We work to prepare our students for kindergarten using the 2022 Texas Prekindergarten guidelines. We have incorporated their goals into curriculum that is differentiated to age appropriate classes, and we record the progress our students are making with regular assessments. We take a minimum of 3 assessments throughout the year and send them home to the families so you can know how your child is performing in school as well.

We do not provide a set nap time in our classrooms. We do, however, offer a quiet time, especially in our younger classes. During this time, students are able to lay out to rest, but we have quiet activities planned for the rest of the class.

Very little. While we sometimes utilize youtube videos to share read aloud books to our students, or to create interactive sing alongs on various topics, on an average day our students watch tv during lunchtime and during our pickup time from 2-2:30. Our curriculum and activities are all off of screens and are usually using physical manipulatives in our classes.
